In “Sleeping with Dragons,” artist A. delivers a haunting visual symphony that feels torn from the pages of an ancient myth or illuminated by the golden brush of a Renaissance master. Presented as today’s Image of the Day for Enchantment’s Legends of Flight round, the piece is as evocative as it is powerful—infused with heat, shadow, and sacred stillness.
Bathed in firelight and cloaked in velvet blue shadow, the figure reclines across the obsidian-scaled form of a dragon, half-wrapped in fur and fantasy. They are at once divine and mortal, caught in that liminal moment between danger and desire. The [Faunus] Bone Warrior Fur set and Stole Sheep wrap them in primitive elegance, suggesting a protector—or perhaps a sacrifice—embraced by the very creature that could end them.
Behind the reclining form, Laminak’s Dragon Claw Fire Basket blazes like an altar, casting dancing light across a den steeped in lore. A hoard of detail surrounds them: glowing [Duplexity] Ihrydian Dragon Eggs rest beside a feast of enchanted fruit on the ornately carved Dreki Table & Stool by LORE. Books line the shelves in the distance, hinting at arcane wisdom and the long memory of dragons.
The presence of wings, flame, and scale tells the tale of a bond older than time itself—a tryst between human and beast, myth and man. Here, in a den of scales and ash, the lines between love, power, and surrender blur into something poetic and eternal.
A.’s accompanying poem deepens this spell, each line a whisper between crackling flames:
“we can swim together embraced in the flames
without getting stuck in our black kisses…”
